About Five Digits

Sometime following high school I began tinkering with computers. Back in those days creating a website such as this was not even thought of. Myspace didn't exist, and color monitors where just coming into existence. Dial-up modems where the only way to the information super highway, and it was much like sitting in traffic in Los Angeles.

At some point I was forced to make a decision to either become a bartender or go to school to learn more about computers. I always loved graphic arts so I chose CAD (computer aided design) school. Shortly there after I realized that I truly enjoyed working with computers and being creative. By now the technology was becoming pretty good, animation software was coming around and powerful computers where becoming affordable.

In September of 2001 I was struck with a great desire to create my own company. Our first child was born earlier that year and was also a great inspiration. Needing to make some extra money on the side, Five Digits became a reality. In the beginning Five Digits focused mainly on computer repair. This evolved into website hosting and design. All the while both my wife and I worked full time jobs and maintained Five Digits on the side.

A few years ago a friend approached us to create a video documenting her sons life. She had hours of video and tons of pictures. We had never done such a project, however I am always up for a challenge. We did some research on the best way to convert the analog video tapes to a digital format. We spent weeks scanning photos and digitizing video tapes. We delivered the completed project on Christmas Eve. Watching the family reaction to the finished product was amazing. Everyone in the room was tearful, the emotion was unbelievable. At that moment I realized we had something special to offer.

It is not every day that you get to do something you enjoy. Our joy comes from others reactions to our work. We take great pride in every project.
